TGIF!

One more week until we head out to North Carolina for an entire week for Thanksgiving! I can't wait!

Let's see. It was a pretty decent week for us, aside from the unit test on figurative language that the little folks just really don't get very well. Hopefully, in time they will...

Today, a kid was hit by a car about a block from our school about an hour after dismissal. Our principal rushed over, but it wasn't one of ours. The kid was about 7-8 years old. We weren't terribly flustered, because it wasn't one of our kids and the kid was conscious when our principal got there.

The most disruptive thing this week happened to one of my children who already has a hard time functioning. He's being raised by a great-aunt who really does try to do well raising him, but he struggles in class. They went to visit a relative one evening this week and instead found his body. And to think, my little guy was concerned that his homework didn't get done when he got to school the next morning.

Anyhow, I'm busy planning our last week pre-Thanksgiving and finding a couple of good crafts for them to enjoy in addition to our regular work. I think we're going to make "Thankful Turkeys" for what we're thankful for to accompany our history of Thanksgiving lesson. It'll be great!
