It's raining again, hard, and the Mississippi River was already up to the levees last night when Babak and Jess went out to check things out.
I would not want to be a teacher in West Bolivar right now, seeing as their schools are sitting literally RIGHT behind the levees in Rosedale. As of yet, it doesn't look like the Port of Rosedale area is going to overflow, but... the week before state testing and about two-three weeks until graduations and the end of the year, one more stress would not be fun at all.
We have flood insurance and our home is rather far in from the river compared to many other people we know (say, three-ten miles for friends, and we're double that at 20 miles in), but I am still hoping the rain will stop, the river will not breach the levees, and the blowing-up that's happening up-river in Missouri doesn't somehow negatively impact us. The tornadoes slammed our state enough, we don't need to get flooded next.
